My monthly must-haves

My monthly must-haves

Have you ever gone through the struggle of finding that perfect product that performs as promised? As someone who’s (sort-of) in the beauty industry (commercial break: check my YouTube make-up tutorial channel), I’ve tried pretty much every sort of skincare and cosmetic product out there – grocery and drugstore brands, luxury lines, Korean skincare brands, and those trendy celebrity-crafted cosmetics.

Here are a few items that have served me well over the years, and despite brief flirtations with new “it” brands and products, I always eventually go back to and regularly stock up on:

L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Crème. This smells so good. It may seem a bit pricey for a tube, but I’ve noticed that it keeps my hand moisturized even after washing so you end up saving in the long run.

L’Occitane Nail Oil. This has been really effective in reviving nails that have been damaged from too much nail polish. The built in brush makes it a breeze to apply.

The Face Shop Miracle Cushion Foundation. Excellent coverage with a dewy finish. The high quality sponge that glides it on and blends easily on your face. Bargain-hunter alert: They often have promos where the purchase of a compact gets you a free refill.

The Face Shop Ink Graffi Liquid Liner in Full Black. The super fine brush goes a long way in keeping your cat-eye from going full raccoon. Also, I’ve noticed it stays in place the whole day and only comes off when you actually want it to.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil. A natural and organic zit-buster. Works well in soothing bug bites too.

The Body Shop Lip and Cheek Tint. There’s a reason this has been a bestseller and a mainstay in many makeup mavens’ kikay kits for over a decade. It’s a multi-tasker that gives you a healthy-looking blush.
